Launch of the Baltic Euroregional Network - East project in Moscow
The International Conference "Legislative base and practice of cross-border cooperation in the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the European Union" officially launched the Baltic Euroregional Network - East project in Moscow on 24 - 25 May 2007.
The event was organized by the Information office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in St Petersburg in cooperation with the Ministry for Regional Development of the Russian Federation.
Halldór Ásgrímsson, the Secretary-General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, addressed the conference with the opening word.
The leading themes of the conference have become development of cross border cooperation in North West Russia and Belarus, European experience in this field of cooperation, legislative basis for further development of cross-border regions in Russia, Republic of Belarus and EU. Several examples of functioning of Russian and Belarusian CBC structures (including Euroregions) have been presented at the conference, possible future initiatives were identified.
The first working meeting of the project's Coordination Group took place during the conference, where the list of its members was approved; the chairwoman and her deputy were chosen; the Rules of the group's work and the Calendar of events for the first milestone of the project's implementation were adopted.

- Partners of the BEN-EAST project from Russia, Belarus and Lithuania
