"Business sector is an important partner of cross-border cooperation"

This statement was proved at the seminar "Business sector involvement into cross-border cooperation" hosted by the Administration of Vyborg region municipality (Leningrad oblast) that took place on 13 February 2008 in the Vyborg Castle.

During the seminar best practices of cooperation between public and business sectors in cross-border activities were presented by members of Vyborg administration, local business associations, academic and commercial representatives from Republic of Karelia, St. Petersburg, Pskov, Murmansk and Republic of Belarus. Workshop on development of new cooperation models was organised during the seminar where all BEN-East partner regions participated and presented their views on the role of business in CBC. Representatives of the Consulate-General of Poland in St. Petersburg as the country closely involved into cross-border cooperation in the Baltic Sea region also took part at the event and reported about the economical relations between Poland and Russia.

Study-visit to "National wine terminal" (a part of Vyborg Industrial Park) and excursion along Vyborg Castle were also organized as a part of the event.

The seminar was accompanied by the third Coordination Group meeting of BEN-East project headed by the Nordic Council of Ministers Information office in St. Petersburg. It was held in the premises of the Administration of Vyborg region municipality on 12 February. Members of the Coordination Group discussed ongoing activities and events held in the frames of the project, worked on the report to the Delegation of the European Commission to Russia and exchanged opinions on perspectives of further cooperation within BEN project's network.
