Seminar "PR and contacts with media in promotion of the CBC" was held in the Belorussian town of Braslav on 5-7th of December, 2007

Seminar "PR and contacts with media in promotion of the CBC" was held in the Belorussian town of Braslav on 5-7th of December, 2007 in the frames of "Baltic Euroregional Network - East".

The seminar was organized by the Council of Braslav district representing in BEN-East project partners network Euroregion "Country of lakes". The seminar was devoted to interaction between mass media and organizations working in the sphere of cross-border cooperation. It was attended by about forty participants from Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania and North-west Russia. Among them there were journalists from different newspapers and TV companies, BEN and BEN-East projects' partners, department workers from Saint-Petersburg and Belorussian state universities and other specialists representing international organizations.

The first part of the seminar was opened by BEN and BEN-East projects' partners and journalists: head of Latvian office of Euroregion "Country of lakes" Ilze Stabulniece and information officer of the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania Saulius Abraskevicius spoke about the role of PR and various ways of communication in the work of their organizations; Andrey Kolomojsky from the newspaper "Vyborg vedomosti" and German Moskalenko, deputy editor of Minsk weekly edition "7 days", presented their view on coverage of CBC topics in the press.

The second part of the event was devoted to forms and methods of work with mass media. During this part information officer of INTERREG Joint Technical Secretariat Giedrius Surplys, associated professor of the journalism faculty of St. Petersburg state university Dmitry Ruschin and head of international research center of Belorussian state university Mikhail Masjukov shared their work experience with the participants.

An active discussion of different methods of effective communication between CBC structures and mass media resulted into recommendations which contributed to the list of recommendations to BEN project partners worked out during the seminar on PR and information strategy in CBC held on Hiiumaa island in April 2006.

During the practical part of the seminar the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with tourist centers of the National park "Braslav lakes" (Braslav district, Vitebsk region), visited Spaso-Efrasinjevsky monastery, Sofijsky cathedral and book printing museum of the town of Polotsk.
