BEN and BEN-East projects strategy being discussed
Brainstorming meeting focusing on new project ideas to develop BEN and BEN-East network held in Tallinn on March, 31
BEN project ("Baltic Euroregional Network") that has been coordinated by the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania was officially closed during the final conference in Jelgava, Latvia and now it's time to develop new project ideas in order to contribute to existing partners' network. Different opportunities for getting funding to extend BEN and BEN-East activities were discussed during brainstorming meeting held in Tallinn on March, 31.
Šarūnas Radvilavičius, BEN project coordinator, spoke about two main financial tools - Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007 - 2013 and INTERREG IV C - that could be used to enhance cooperation in the Baltic Sea area.
Representatives of BEN and BEN-East project partners such as Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), Nordic Council of Ministers Information Office in Saint-Petersburg, NCM Office in Estonia, Tallinn-Helsinki Euroregio, Euroregion Sesupe, Administration of Vyborg region municipality and some other cross-border institutions discussed various project ideas that could get support within those two programmes. Among the most interesting topics were Creative businesses in the BSR, border obstacles for cross-border cooperation, CBC clusters, CBC and educational institutions, environmental policy in the Baltic Sea and Black Sea regions.
The best project ideas will be formulated according to the application requirements of BSR Programme and INTERREG IV C and sent for consideration in fall 2008.
